• Tree Oil (TTO, tea tree oil) is an essential oil, distilled steam from an Australian plant, Melaleuca Alternifolia. It has a minimum value of terpinen-4-ol and a maximum content of 1,8-cineol. Terpinen-4-ol is a major component of TTO that exhibits strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Tea tree oil has antioxidant effects. It was indicated to have a broad spectrum of antimicrobial effects against bacterial, viral, fungal and protozoal infections affecting the skin and mucous membranes. Several studies suggested the use of TTO to treat acne, seborrhoid dermatitis and chronic gingivitis. It also accelerates wound healing and has anticancer effects on the skin.
