• Titanium dioxide: is an inert mineral used as a sunscreen component in cosmetics. It has been scientifically proven to protect the skin from UVA and UVB radiation. Because it is delicate, it is an active sunscreen for sensitive or prone to redness of the skin. It is great to use around the eyes because it is unlikely to cause pinching. Titanium dioxide is usually micronized (nano) and coated for use in cosmetic products. Micronization makes it a little heavy to the touch, making it more presentable and easier to spread on the skin. Micronised titanium dioxide is photostable and can provide better sun protection than non-micronised titanium dioxide.
  
  
• Zinc oxide: Minerals such as zinc oxide are often used as an inorganic physical sun blocker. They are preferred over organic compounds that absorb only UV radiation. Advantages of sun protection based on inorganic compounds include the absence of skin irritation and sensitisation, indifference of ingredients, reduced penetration into the skin and protection with a wide spectrum of action. The natural opacity of these small size sunscreen particles (a white raid) is eliminated without reducing UV blocking efficiency by using zinc nanoparticles. Since titanium dioxide in the microscale is the most effective for UVB, and the micro zinc particles in the UVA range, the combination of these two oxides provides the required UV wideband protection.
