How do PLLA threads work?

Polylactic acid (PLLA) is a substance naturally present in the body, which after a certain time completely dissolves in the tissue. The idea of using PLLA thread in aesthetic treatments was born in Korea and quickly gained popularity worldwide. The procedure involves inserting PLLA threads under the skin (in selected areas) using a very thin needle. After introduction, the needle is removed and the skin is bandaged. The treatment used produces a specific scaffolding around which the body begins neocollagenesis (production of new collagen fibers), stimulation of fibroblasts to increased synthesis of elastin and synthesis of endogenous hyaluronic acid.
